Patrick Henry's 100 Book Club
Our school has an awesome tradition called the 100 Book Club. It was started by a first grade teacher who challenged her students top read 100 books by the 100th day of school. Pretty soon it expanded to the whole school.
Each student receives a reading log on their first day of school. Students keep track of their reading, and, as soon as they finish 100 entries, they turn it in. On the 100th day of school we celebrate! Each member of the 100 Book Club receives a special spirit T-shirt and many other treats. I have also been known to "surprise" students randomly during the school year.
This year we had 211 kids make it into the club by the 100th day. Mission Accomplished!
