Third grade students at every elementary school were given a free children’s book.
This week, third grade students at every elementary school were given a free children’s book! Opal's Greenwood Oasis was written by Najah-Amatullah Hylton and Quaryash Ali Lansana.
Opal’s Greenwood Oasis gives readers a look at the thriving Greenwood neighborhood and Black Wall Street before the deadly and destructive Tulsa Race Massacre.
Author Quaryash Ali Lansana visited several schools, including Burroughs Elementary. He took time to meet students, give a reading of the book, and hold a short trivia session.
Thank you to ONEOK, the Coretz Family Foundation, and the Sanford and Irene Burnstein Foundation for this generous donation! The delivery of the books was made possible by the publisher The Calliope Group.
