Tulsa Symphony Orchestra and Carnegie Hall work together to provide our third, fourth, and fifth grade students with a wonderful curriculum developed by the Weill Foundation through Carnegie Hall. Each year for three years, our students learn to sing, move, and play soprano recorder with this curriculum. The culminating event is a concert that our students attend, and they perform with the orchestra from their audience seats! The curriculum includes outstanding orchestral music selections as well as selections from different parts of the world.
Important Questions
What kind of recorder should I buy for my 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade student if they want one to play at home?
Answer: The brand we use at school is Yamaha, and the soprano recorders cost less than $10.00. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades may bring their own recorders to use during music class. They come in 3 translucent colors as well as opaque cream.
How can my student find Link Up songs to sing at home?
Answer: Students can visit the Carnegie Hall website, sign in with a password, and find all the resources including audio tracks to practice the songs. They can also find Link Up videos on YouTube by searching Link Up, and the song's title.
